Generally expert medical standby services at sports events are organised by the school or event management. Patients are then transported to the hospital to receive expert trauma treatment in casualty. Should the need arise to transfer the patient to a different (more specialised medical facility), ER24 will then take charge of this either by road or air which is the appropriate manner. Trained medical professionals are present in Private Trauma Centres to provide immediate care for any injuries that occur, ensuring that athletes receive prompt and effective treatment.
While our member programme is comprehensive, certain exclusions or limitations may apply, such as pre-existing conditions or non-sport-related injuries. We recommend reviewing the member programme details thoroughly to understand any specific exclusions or limitations.

How does the claim process work?
The accident or emergency needs to be reported via one of the call centres,
either:

ER24 on 084 124 or 087 135 1248 or
Unity Health on 0861 366 006

This can be done by the parent, guardian, school, emergency services on
hand or the hospital casualty unit. This then creates a case file which is
needed by the hospital to summit claims directly to Unity Health.

The call centre will then:

• Verify the membership of the person in need of help, whether it be
the main member or a dependent
• Assist the member with advice, and emergency transportation to
their nearest in-patient hospital facility
• The call centre will issue the hospital with a guarantee of payment
and the member will be admitted for treatment
• Unity Health will settle the account with the hospital, subject to the
benefit limitations

Should any other claims need to be filed, contact us and provide the relevant
documentation of the injury and treatment received together with the case
file number. Our claims process is designed to be straightforward, and our
team will assist you throughout the process.

The scheme runs from 1 January to 31 December, or pro-rata for the year
