2025 Benefits of the Sport Injury Guardians Membership Programme

The Sport Injury Guardians Membership Programme includes a Hospital and Emergency Care Policy, an Insurance Group Scheme between Sport Injury Guardians (Pty) Ltd and Unity Health a Division of Ambledown Financial Services (Pty) Ltd, an authorised Financial Service Provider, FSP No. 10287 and is taken out by Sport Injury Guardians (Pty) Ltd for each child enrolled into the Sport Injury Guardians Membership Programme.

Medical Emergency Benefits in case of any accidental injury:

  • 24-hour Emergency Medical Response including medical hotline assistance.
  • 24-hour Medical Transportation Emergency Response (Road or Air).
Personal Accident Benefit covers medical costs up to R1,500,000 due to any accident. See definition of an accident under the Frequently Asked Questions section on the website.

Sport Injuries are limited to R500,000 per sport accident / injury event during organised events.

Emergency Casualty Benefit cover up to R8,000 for Casualty Room Treatment costs (if not going to the hospital ward).

Emergency Stabilisation Benefit covers up to R30,000 for life-threatening events, for example, Heart Attack, stroke etc., which are primary health care related. See definition of an Emergency under the Frequently Asked Questions section on the website.

  • MRI & CT Scan Benefit cover costs up to R21,000 per year. (Pre-authorisation is required)
  • Physiotherapy up to R3,800 due to an accident recovery.
  • Repatriation of mortal remains cover is R7,500.
  • Accidental Death Benefit cover for children is R10,000 (Pre-authorisation is required)

Hospital Costs can be as follows:

  • A Private Hospital Ward Bed costs are roughly R5,037.50 per day.
  • General Surgery usually starts at R 40,000.
  • Specialist Surgeons and doctors’ costs all included.

Summary:

For the cost of less than one night in a private hospital (R5037.50) your child can be covered for an array of medical costs.
